Metro’s Capital Improvement Program invests in the improvement and maintenance of the critical infrastructure and assets that enable the delivery of safe, reliable, and efficient Metrorail, Metrobus, and MetroAccess services. The approved program encompasses hundreds of projects and billions of dollars each year. This is an exciting opportunity to join the team that manages the finances of Metro’s capital program. Metro is seeking a candidate who has a current experience as a “power-user” of Hyperion SmartView. The incumbent will support the management of capital program expenditures and funding by creating and maintaining SmartView reporting templates, data, and reporting data hierarchies that enable program managers and analysts to quickly locate and analyze financial data for purposes of budgeting, forecasting, funding, and managing capital projects. The incumbent will be accountable for the integrity of data and template functionality that supports capital program management. Work will be primarily in Hyperion SmartView and will require collaboration with IT resources to ensure dimensions, their members and reporting data structures are accurately maintained for SmartView reporting. The incumbent will support any ongoing and periodic upgrades, patches, and user acceptance testing for Hyperion changes impacting the capital program. PeopleSoft Financials experience is a plus. Advanced MS Excel skills are preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business Administration or Accounting
Five or more (5+) years of experience with reporting tools (e.g. Smart View, Hyperion Financial Reports, OBIEE or equivalent) to include, three or more (3+) years of application development or administration experience and;
Three or more (3+) years of experience with Budgeting, Forecasting and Financial Reporting applications
Satisfactorily complete the medical examination for this position, if required. The incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of this position either with or without reasonable accommodations.
The Hyperion Administrator, Capital Planning develops reports and templates using the Smart View functionality of the Hyperion Planning application, including the creation and maintenance of capital budgets, forecasts and analysis. The incumbent manages month end, quarterly and year-end financial and managerial reporting processes from a system power user perspective, providing customer support as needed and ensures timely and accurate data submissions and management of process flows.
Partners with Capital Budgeting team to define requirements of planning and analysis tools in Smart View and work with IT team to development, design, test and implement other technical solutions as needed. Provides coordination and supports forecast processes, as well as assists business unit planners with completing their forecasts and budgets.
Works with all key stakeholders to update, recommend and develop practices for more consistent and efficient process development and maintenance of budgets, forecasts, procurements, long-range capital plans and other Hyperion templates.
Prepares all Hyperion applications for business activities including scenario preparation, loading data files, running calculation scripts, reconciling and verifying data, trouble-shooting, implementing enhancements, and assisting with end-user reporting.
Troubleshoots production-level problems and resolves simple to highly complex technical issues related to Hyperion Smart View applications. Coordinates with IT resources as required to resolve system issues and minimize downtime.
Ensures integrity of budget, forecast, and actual data loaded to Hyperion for use in month-end reports and analysis. Works to create and improve business and operational processes.
Develops/revises user training materials and conduct training as necessary to support end-users of Smart View templates used by capital program managers. Participates in the monthly and annual Financial Close to provide support with report writing, query development and running the monthly interim and year-end reports.
