As a Manager; Maintenance Planning and Scheduling in the Office of Bus Maintenance you will be responsible for leading the implementation and execution of integrating reliability centered maintenance practices for the MetroBus fleet. This position will be responsible directing a team of maintenance planners and schedulers in the development, execution, and monitoring of maintenance plans, while optimizing the use of WMATA resources.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Management, Maintenance Management, Engineering or other related scientific field.
In lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree, a High School Diploma/GED and 4 years of experience in an electrical or mechanical maintenance position; a minimum of two (2) of those years served in a maintenance supervisor or a reliability engineer role may be considered.
Minimum of eight (8) years of considerable experience in an electrical or mechanical maintenance position
Strong experience in performance monitoring, performance reporting or auditing
Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP)
Previous engineering or maintenance management experience preferred.

The Manager – Maintenance Planning & Scheduling manages a team responsible for planning and scheduling the maintenance activities of a variety of assets across multiple WMATA departments.
Supervises a staff of maintenance schedulers and clerks, ensuring completion of assigned work and the execution of appropriate personnel administration actions
Following appropriate Asset Management and WMATA policies, ensures proper commissioning/ decommissioning of Assets into and from WMATA’s inventory. Ensures those Assets have maintenance plans before being utilized by the departments within Operations.
Manage the execution of all maintenance plans in accordance with existing Job Plans, ensuring WMATA remains compliant with existing maintenance obligations.
Monitors and reviews the maintenance compliance by querying and reporting on maintenance data from existing enterprise systems including PeopleSoft, Maximo & WindChill.
Reviews all maintenance plans regularly in conjunction with key stakeholders to ensure they remain valid and incorporate the accepted best practices utilized in the industry.
Monitors and reviews the effective of maintenance programs by performing trend analysis on the ratio of Scheduled to Unscheduled maintenance actions for each asset.
Serves as the lead point of contact for programs related to improving maintenance plans and schedules for all assets under the control of the RCMP department.
Communicate with key stakeholders on a regular basis to maintain strong working relationships in order to institute a continual improvement culture for maintenance practices.
Work closely and regularly with the Reliability Analysis team, Engineering departments and other key stakeholders to ensure that maintenance plans are adapted to support reliability improvements and a transition to Condition Based Maintenance practices wherever possible.
Utilizes analysis tools and methods to independently develop maintenance compliance reports on a daily, weekly, monthly or yearly basis as required. Distribute reports to key stakeholders to ensure there is a high level of situational awareness within the organization as it pertains to compliance to maintenance obligations.
Monitor, review and maintain a register of maintenance plans that are specifically linked to statutory requirements for ease of reporting on the compliance of these plans.
Manage the archiving of maintenance records in accordance with WMATA records management policy.
Support the management of data entry and improvements (as they pertain to maintenance planning) across numerous databases to ensure the quality and integrity of the data.
Collaborates with internal WMATA departments including Quality, Engineering, IT and respective rail maintenance departments.
Develop and train staff members so that they become and remain highly competent.
Represents the department in maintenance planning & scheduling meetings at all levels of the company, including senior leadership.
